Manchester City Football Club is an English football club based in Manchester, that competes in the Premier League, the top flight of English football. Founded in 1880 as St. Mark's (West Gorton), it became Ardwick Association Football Club in 1887 and Manchester City in 1894. The club's home ground is the City of Manchester Stadium in east Manchester, to which it moved in 2003, having played at Maine Road since 1923.

The club adopted their now-traditional sky blue home kit in 1894, and have played in it ever since. The current manager is Pep Guardiola, who has led the club to two Premier League titles, an FA Cup, and three League Cups since his appointment in 2016.

Manchester City have a long-standing rivalry with nearby club Manchester United, with whom they contest the Manchester derby. The club's most successful period was in the late 1960s and early 1970s when they won the League Championship, the FA Cup, the League Cup and the European Cup Winners' Cup under the management team of Joe Mercer and Malcolm Allison.
